Afghanistan

We received word today from Aaron that he has spoken with his Staff Sergeant and has volunteered for a 6-7 month deployment to Afghanistan early next year with his supply unit. It was his choice and I fully support him. However, Jan definitely has different feelings regarding the matter. Being his Mother, she is rightfully entitled to these feelings and I fully support her as well.

His pay will basically double and be tax-free while in country. I only hope that Aaron doesn't volunteer for any convoy duty while there. If he's chosen in his rightful turn, that's fine with me. As he will be in the rear echelon in supply, he won't be exposed to front-line infantry firefights on an ongoing basis.

Please keep Aaron in your prayers in the coming months. God has blessed us with a beautiful son and He, alone, knows what He has planned for Aaron. May God bless Aaron and all the US military both here and abroad that choose to go in harms way to defend our American way of life.
