Aaron's trip

Hey! Lo and behold, there's an Internet cafe on this base in the middle of the barren snowy wasteland...LOL...Actually, this place isn't even listed as a USMC base on a map because it isn't...technically, at least. It's located on the land for Toiyabe National Forest, and the USMC leases a portion of the land for use as a mountain warfare training center.Anyways...it's been pretty easy up here, so far. Just a lot of classes on military operations in cold weather. We'll be making an 8-mile hike on Sunday to a mountain peak 2,000 feet higher than the base camp, and we'll be sleeping there for two nights. The snow is six feet deep up there and lows are in the teens...should be interesting. As for base camp, the snow that is here is slowly melting. The air is still cold enough at night to "refreeze" the snow and turn the water on the ground back into ice, but by midday, it's like a huge mud pit around here when the snow and ice start melting.
