He's come and gone. A flurry of activity around the house while he was here, but now he's back in the saddle again :-( It was SO nice to have the folks over to our house on Saturday: my Dad, Pat, Lea Ann, and Tony. Dad seems to have had a great time with Aaron talking over old times. Aaron, surprisingly, didn't do much running around while he was at home. Fine with us! He seems to have enjoyed just sleeping late and playing his war games till the wee hours of the morning. He did go to a hash run here but he said it definitely wasn't like the San Diego runs he's used to: small turn out and not much carousing. He IM'd last night and said there were a bunch of fresh-faced boot troops right out of MOS school and saluting everything that moved at the USO lounge in the San Diego airport waiting on a ride to Pendleton with him. Ahhh, memories!!
He made out like a banshee re: Xmas presents. He got an 16 gig iPod Touch, an Olympus digital camera, a real nice car cover to protect his car while he's on deployment, clothes, and $$$. The iPod and camera will definitely see some good use in the Pacific and Mid East.
He said today was gonna be a lo.....ng work day getting the company area ready for deployment so the next group can use it after they're gone. Translation: move it, clean it, trim it, cut it, paint it (LOL).
Jan got her staples taken out of her knee yesterday. The Doc sez everything appears to be on track for a normal recovery. She'll be "back in the saddle" by the middle or end of January.
We got a 37" HDTV for the den on Sunday while they were on sale at Best Buy. It exactly fits the book case where the old TV was. I picked up a HD-DVR converter box from Charter yesterday. It has the built-in digital video recorder so we can record missed programs for later viewing. The programming is awesome in HD. I will definitely enjoy this one.
Say a prayer for all the guys and gals in uniform going in harms way for our freedoms.
