Guam news

Here's a news story about Aaron's unit's recent stop in Guam. They left Guam a couple of days ago for points further west. He said he went to a McD's on the island and they had fried banana pies in place of apple pies that we have here. He said they were quite tasty. He characterized the water on the beach as "crystal clear, turquoise blue, and waist deep" for about 100 yards off shore to the edge of the reef where it dropped off to about 90 feet almost immediately. He said the weather was very humid & hot for this time of the year.

Sounds like a place I would like to visit & snorkel. Apparently, the military is planning to move all 8,000 of the Marines currently stationed at Okinawa to Guam by 2014. Then Guam will become a major Pacific base of operations for the Marines. That will mean new construction of infrastructure for the incoming troops and their families. Nice!
