Happy Birthday USMC

Today is Aaron's birthday. Well, sorta.... Today IS the birthday of the Marine Corps. It's a very big deal for all Marines, active and retired.

"During the American Revolution, many important political discussions took place in the inns and taverns of Philadelphia, including the founding of the Marine Corps.

A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore.

The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines."

The annual Marine Ball, celebrated one way or another at all Marine installations, is a huge deal for Marines.

Aaron's all settled into his condo, literally a stone's throw from the Pacific Ocean, and living the good life in sunny California. He went to Las Vegas last weekend and had a blast during the "Red Dress Run" with his hashing buddies. It was his first trip the Vegas (I think) and he won some real nice pocket change at Blackjack.

We got our plane tickets and hotel reservations for our trip to San Diego the week of Jan 4. Can't wait to see our Marine on his watch and in his habitat. He's become a died-in-the-wool Californian.

The remnants of Hurricane Ida came through today. It has rained steadily since late last night, 18 hrs so far. Supposed to be gone by late tonight.

I was off today and stayed in watching the memorial service from Fort Hood, TX. Very sad. My prayers are with ALL military personnel who go in harms way for our way of life. Tomorrow is also Veterans Day. Please pray for all veterans, active and retired.
