We've been busy lately. Aaron made his first trip to Los Angles today. I'm anxious to hear from the trip. He got his passport compliments of the USMC in anticipation of his month-long junket to Jordan in June/July. He's been busy with his hash groups on weekends. His roomy got a car so the roomy won't be bugging Aaron to use his car anymore.
I start a new post Monday at Harbert Corporation on Valleydale Rd (about five minutes from home) from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. I got some new wheels yesterday, trading in my Dodge pickup on an '08 Ford Fusion, check out the pix: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gvincent1/sets/72157605117117180/ It gets 30+ mpg :-D and is comparable to an Accord or Camry.
Pat came over this weekend. Her and Jan wore out Wally World (as usual). I think Walmart's stock went up 10 points, LOL. We had some good home cooking also. Jan's office makeover at UAB is finally complete and tomorrow is moving day for her. The dogs got cleaned and clipped Friday and look great. More later....

As I mentioned in my last post, I finally went to LA this past Saturday...to go to a strip club, no less...lol. My buddies invited me so I said sure, why not, having not been to LA before, anyways.
We drove up there around 7:30PM with my roommate driving...he volunteered to be our DD since he doesn't ever drink alcohol. I have never been more afraid for my life during a car ride than I was with him driving. He just got his first driver's license only a month ago...he never got a car when he was 16, and he's 21 now...he was only recently able to afford a car of his own. God bless him, but he barreled up the I-5 going between 90 and 100 most of the time. There was myself and two other Marines in the car, and we basically had to start yelling at him to get him to slow down...he thought we were kidding at first, so he just went faster...but when he came within inches of broadsiding a motorcycle driver, we told him the games were over. I, for one, was not ready to die that night!!
Our first stop was Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in Long Beach, made popular by none other than the gangster rapper Snoop Dogg (pic on Flickr).
Here's my bat-out-of-hell driver roommate Sanchez eating a monster chicken breast (pic on Flickr).
After Roscoe's, where we got probably the worst waiter service I've ever experienced in my life (so bad that we didn't even leave a tip), we drove all the way to Sunset Blvd and into Beverly Hills. Having never been there, it was a huge shock, even at night...I bet during the daytime I would have been able to see even more of the glamour. It was almost like being in Times Square...huge billboards and lights everywhere. Every other car was an exotic import sports car...people were dressed in the slickest clothes I had ever seen...so much money, all in one place. I was envious, to say the least.
Our first step was to find a strip club, but LA has a lot of no-alcohol strip clubs, so we wanted to find one that allowed drinking. After driving for 20 minutes, we still hadn't found one until we came across a place called The Body Shop. Desperate to just get inside any club at this point, we parked and went in.
To my dismay, it was a no-alcohol club...but the trade off was that the strip club was full nudity (I have since learned that California state law bans drinking in full nudity bars, and allows beer in topless bars). I had never even been to a full nudity strip club before (since they don't exist in Alabama), so it was a hell of an experience! I'm not even all that big on strip clubs, but I'll admit I had a good time there. Not only that, the women were GORGEOUS. I'm not talking about trashy dancers at Sammy's. I'm talking serious, LA quality women that were extremely attractive...some of them would have easily passed as models (I later learned two of the dancers were Playboy Bunnies!)
Since we couldn't drink, we decided to run to a liquor store, down some yumminess, then go back. I got a mid-size bottle of Hypnotiq and put it down, and my other buddy got a bottle of SoCo and put it down...I don't know how the hell you down SoCo, that is some strong ass liquor.
We went back and chilled until like 3:30AM, and we had a good time =)
On the way back, I was very tired, but I simply couldn't sleep because Sanchez was driving like a jackass again. I told him that if he didn't want to slow down, he needed to immediately pull over and let me out. I refuse to be killed at the hands of an unsafe driver. He denied my request, so after threatening to mention his driving antics to our NCOs at work, he finally slowed down. It's a sad situation when you have to threaten a friend just to get him to drive safe. His inexperience behind the wheel was simply stunning and downright scary.
I fully intend to go back and explore LA...I'll probably make a weekend out of it over the summer or during the fall. There's so much to do up there!! :)
