It's a Marine thing

Things are quite around here for now. Jan's trip to DC was a resounding success. She stated that she had many new contacts and networked well. Now it's on to Boston next week!

Jan just called and said she was stopped by the county sheriff yesterday while downtown. She wasn't speeding and couldn't think of any other reason she should be stopped. The officer approached her and said he just wanted to thank her for Aaron being a Marine. She has a sticker on the back window of her van that says, "Marine Mom, and proud of it!" The officer noticed the sticker and, being a Marine himself, wanted to tell her how much he appreciated what her son was doing for our country.

I have had similar experiences myself in my car/truck that have Marine stickers and "Marine Dad" tag brackets. One man stopped me in the parking lot of the Meadowbrook Post Office to offer his thanks and we talked for 30 minutes. He was ex-Army and I'm ex-Air Force. There is no such thing as an "ex" Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine. People in the Navy are called sailors; in the Army, they are soldiers; in the Air Force, they are airmen. There is only one name for a Marine: "Marine"! Semper Fi!
