Catch up day

Where to start... Aaron's safely back from Jordan and settled in for the next big excursion for him to Afghanistan later this year. Due to the need for "feet on the ground" now in Afghanistan, he said it was rumored that they may fly to the overseas site when the time comes rather than taking a Navy ship over as usual. Time will tell. He has a ton-o-pix on his Flickr site from Jordan. I think I counted 3,748,276 pix of Wadi Rum (LOL). Same rocks...different views.
He experienced his first earthquake in CA earlier this week. He was driving to the store when it hit and wasn't even aware of it until he saw the items in the store knocked off the shelves. After being away from beer for a month, he had a visit from Montezuma's Revenge when he resumed his imbibing so soon after returning (told you so, LOL) Been there, done that.
Nadine has decided to take a Dean's position at a small Mississippi College rather than coming back to UAB. We wish her the best. Jan went to the ortho MD Tuesday and they discussed the inevitable left knee replacement within the next six months, maybe over the Xmas holidays? Pat's here for a couple of days vacation after a short visit to Aunt Jackie's in Gainesville.
Jan and I are doing our thing at the Hoover Rec several times a week, walking, exercising, water aerobics, etc. It's a pain to convince ourselves to get started, but we both feel better after it's over. I went to the hematologist this week for my regular visit, all was well.
Bella has been on a bird-killing spree lately and presenting us with her ill-gotten goods, two in a week...so far.
Mike & Mandi arrived safely in Okinawa and are setting up household. Apparently the indigenous folks have ceramic dog heads on their roofs to "ward off evil spirits". M & M have decided against it. Shoot, I say enjoy the culture while you can. Jesus won't mind a bit. Look at it as a rabbit's foot.
Been thinking about a relatively small HDTV for the kitchen and/or den at some point. We'd have to upgrade our cable to the HD tier (more $$). The bundled service offered by Charter including high speed Internet, phone land line, HD cable, & DVR service would save us about $90 per month. We're considering our alternatives.

I don't think Nadine wants to leave Miss, honestly. If Mom has the surgery over Christmas and I get to come home, she won't be able to do anything with me and you...she'll be stuck at the house for several weeks after that surgery, then slowly move into rehab after that. Then again, if I don't get any leave, it won't matter if she does it then...something to think about.
