Fire 2

Aaron squeaked by this time. The wildfire was stopped about 50 yds from his barracks. He'll just have to wash his clothes to get rid of the smoky smell, otherwise, all appears to be well. Looks like he'll be up for Corporal on Dec 1st. That'll be just in time for his deployment sometime in January as a new NCO. Ten days 'til sea-duty training!

The kitchen has been 95% completed: removed old wallpaper (two layers), removed popcorn ceiling, new paint on walls and ceiling, & new cabinets. About all that's left to do is final trim work around the top of the cabinets and finishing the ceramic tile back splash under the new cabinets. Steve, the carpenter, is supposed to do that very soon. LOOKING GOOD! Jan got some new cleaning ladies, Camelia & her friend, from church. They started 2 weeks ago and come every 2 weeks, today's the day. They do a fantastic job compared to the first lady we had. They clean places we didn't even know were places, LOL.

Jan and Pat are meeting for lunch today in Irondale. Pats supposed to be bringing me a fresh sweet potato pie. I LOVE those things. Jan, however, is a pumpkin pie person. I just never got into pumpkin pie. Jan's been working some extra weekends in anticipation of the knee replacement surgery in December. She finally took everyone's advise and got a walking cane for assistance.

After several pretty fall days, it finally rained this morning. Supposed to clear up by this afternoon however for another pretty weekend.

Mom is using a cane? She must be having a tough time with the pain so close to surgery...I hope this surgery will make her feel better!

You know, I should hire a cleaning lady for my barracks room on field day...then I could just sit back and relax!!

Pumpkin pie is way better! Sweet potato pie bleh!!!!
