Aaron had to report early on Saturday to the San Diego Naval Base for guard duty prior to leaving on three weeks of sea trials tomorrow. He's moved into his decidedly cramped quarters on board the USS Boxer for the duration. He says the Navy guys are pretty cool guys, and has picked up a lot of good info from them already. They gave him a heads-up on the port calls for the upcoming deployment next year: Hawaii, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Persian Gulf, Perth, and Sydney. Though not necessarily in that order. He'll definitely be well-travelled upon return. Now if he can just figure out how to get a Mediterranean deployment in as well, he'll be all set. He put some pix on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/espanol/ of the ships in port in San Diego.
The kitchen is now 99.9% complete. Next up: replacing the attic stairs, updating/repairing the back deck, and backyard clean out of dead trees & overgrowth. Beautiful fall weather: clear, 60's during day, and 40's at night. The leaves are just now beginning to turn. They'll be just right in another couple of weeks.
