Saturday

Well, i finished the grass, went to walmart for stuff, went to Andy's market for veggies, got the Lincoln turned back into a white car from a yellow (pollen) car, took a shower, had some lunch, now just waiting on Mom to get home...

Had a video chat using Skype this morning with Tony. He's in Columbia, South America working. At the same time I was exchanging emails Aaron, he's in the Middle East, and was talking to Dad on the phone all at the same time. Don't you just love technology?

Hey Dad, I don't know if you got the voicemail I left on the home answering machine yesterday, but I promsie I'm not ignoring your e-mails.

The ship is currently in a perpetual state of "River City 1," which means no e-mail or Internet communications for the majority of the ship. I'm only able to post this because someone I know has access under "River City 1."

The has been going on for the past 3 weeks due to the current ship operations, and there is no end in sight for the near future. We may be like this until we start heading home.

So, if I don't reply to your e-mails for the next 2 months, you know why.

As for your last e-mail, there are a few options for you and Mom. I will most likely get 15-20 days of leave after the deployment ends, so here are the choices:

1) You can stay at home and I can fly home for 2 weeks and spend time with you and Mom in Alabama.

2) You can come to Hawaii, we can spend 3 or 4 days in Waikiki, then I'll fly back to San Diego and you and Mom can fly home.

3) You can come to Hawaii, we can spend 3 or 4 days in Waikiki, then we can all fly to San Diego and spend a few days there and I can show you Camp Pendleton, where I work, and other stuff.

Obviously, option #3 is extremely expensive, especially if Pat is planning on coming along with you to Hawaii, so I understand if that won't work out for you. The real question is: do you want to come out to Hawaii and spend post-deployment time here, or do you want me to come home and spend my time there?

I don't mind either way--I don't think either of you have ever been to Hawaii, and I think you would both enjoy it there...beautiful weather year round, even better than San Diego :)

Late July/Early August is the travel time frame if you want to start looking at flights/hotels.

If you choose Hawaii, get a hotel in Waikiki Beach!!!!!! Don't get one anywhere else! Waikiki is the "center" of everything to do on the island of Oahu.
